PREVENT DRY LIPS! GET A CHAP FREE LIPS πŸ’‹πŸ’‹πŸ’‹

For some people the weather can take a serious toll on our skin, hair and even our lips.  Follow these easy tips to ensure year round kissable & chap free lips!

Exfoliate your lips.  Removing dead skin cells built up on your lips is very important.  Dry, chapped lips are very unappealing.  And to make matters worse, lipstick will not apply smoothly to dry lips leaving a coloured flaky appearance.

If you have sensitive skin to make your lips look flawless in the winter you can simply apply Vaseline to your lips and wipe away any dead skin using a damn wash cloth.

You could also make a homemade lip scrub using olive/coconut oil with sugar. (How to tips below)

After exfoliating your lips make sure to apply a hydrating lip balm, not a gloss.  Lip gloss can be very drying for your lips, I know it drys mine out.  Try to find a lip balm that contains Vitamin E or cocoa butter

HOMEMADE SUGAR LIP SCRUB

Dry, flaky lips can make your lips appear aged.  If you use a lip scrub your lips will become hydrated and the flakes will be rubbed away.  I prefer to make my own lip scrubs instead of buying them at drugstores.  Here is a simple lip scrub recipe using only two ingredients that everyone should have in their kitchen.

Ingredients:

1/2 tbsp

olive oil (I use extra virgin olive oil)

1/4 tbsp

brown sugar

 Directions:

  1. Combine the two ingredients together until it forms a paste.
  2. Apply to lips in a circular motion and rinse with water.
  3. Seal your lips with a moisturizing lip balm.

 Tips:

  • Store the left overs in a air tight container in your fridge for 3 weeks.
  • Add a drop of vanilla extra for a vanilla flavor
  • Add 3 drops of essential oil, such as peppermint oil.
  • Substitute sweet almond oil or jojoba oil
  • If you don’t have brown sugar on hand then use white sugar instead.
  • Use a SPF lip balm for more protection.

I recommend carmex lip balm or maybelline baby lips if you're trying to get a good one.
