HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR MAKEUP!

Hello Beauties,

I really don't like that i keep away for too long...*coughs* but the truth is i've been busy preparing for my homegirls's wedding ceremony. I'm back and better now and guess what is happening to me? My face is a mess at the moment...i'm breaking out!
I blame myself really because i know i have a very sensitive skin and i haven't cleaned my makeup properly in a while. I went out today without makeup because i knew it would just look wrong with all the rashes on my face.

Ever wondered why your skin is breaking out or why you have a cold sore? It could be your makeup! Dirty products (not just brushes) can cause a whole heap of skin problems and disease! "When you think about it, you wouldn't use the same fork all week without washing it, would you? The same thing goes with your makeup," says founder of Beauty So Clean, Nancy Crossley

"Cleaning all of your products after every use is essential, especially those that are near your mouth and eyes, and those that you use regularly,” says Nancy. "Mascara, eye liner, and eye shadow can all transfer diseases. " It's also important to keep everyday beauty must-haves such as foundation clean, too. "If you're applying foundation—or any product—with your fingers, wash your hands before and after use" explains Nancy. "These products spread bacteria like crazy, and are often the biggest cause of acne!" Regularly cleaning your products also increases their lifespan. "By ensuring that no nasty bacteria is eating away at your favorite lipstick, it will definitely last longer," explains Nancy.!

Makeup doesn't last forever. Caring for it properly will certainly extend its life span, but you should also know when to say good-bye.

• Store it right. Keep all makeup in a cool, dry environment, not on a bathroom shelf where the warm, damp air will destroy it. Never let makeup melt in a beach bag or freeze in a car, since the emulsification will break down, and the product won't have that smooth, luscious consistency.

• Come clean. Even the best tools don't perform well if they're dirty. Ideally, synthetic brushes should be cleaned every couple days. I apply a gentle eye-makeup remover—almost any one will do—to the bristles, wipe them clean with a paper towel, and wash them with a basic facial soap and water. In a pinch, an antibacterial wipe works too. (These are also great for quick cleaning when you want to switch shades.) Natural-bristle brushes hold on to grime and bacteria differently, so you only have to wash them once a month. Swish the head of the brush around in a dollop of baby shampoo and water, rinse it under a warm tap, and then dip the brush in diluted rubbing alcohol. Blot the bristles, and lay the brush on its side to air-dry.

• Revive your favorites. A really good sharpener (Sue Devitt's has the finest blade I've found) will save pencils from looking gnawed. If the tip is really soft, chill it in the refrigerator for a half hour before sharpening it.

• Toss it. The sniff test is the best way to know if something is past its prime: If you get a hint of anything funky in a lipstick or creamy product, throw it out. The same goes for nail polish and foundation that remain separated after you've shaken them. Don't stockpile mascara—use it right after you buy it and replace it every three months.
I hope you find this useful.
