I remember that sunny afternoon in my orange dress and orange eyeshadow, i stopped by at Mascara Makeup Studio in Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi to inquire about their makeup training and the first thing Madam Andrea said to me was "You know you didn't have to use the orange eyeshadow" ...i smiled and asked her why, then she explained a lot of things about Matching my makeup to my outfit...Thank God i know better now...lolToday, i will be talking about the #MatchyMatchy syndrome.
Well, this is my pretty self in a wine top, almost natural eyeshadow & a pink lipstick (Everyday Makeup)
Matching your makeup to your outfit: Sometimes it works… and sometimes it’s a massive #BeautyFail
I like when things match. You know, like bras and panties. Shoes and handbags...lol....
It helps one make sense of the world but please DO NOT try that with your makeup and outfit except you know how to go about it.
For every instance where it looks terrifically chic, there’s another where it’s a bit too… considered. Sometimes the surprise of a contrasting colour on the eyes or the lips just elevates the entire outfit. If you want to try this kind of coordinating, follow these rules to look glamorous—not Grandma-ish.
Nigerian Movie star Mercy Aigbe looks gorgeous here!
1. Start with a jewel-tone shade. Purple, sapphire and emerald hues look gorgeous on eyes. Rich ruby reds work well on lips. If the color of your dress or top isn't that saturated, you should pick a makeup color that's richer. A SOFT WASH OF COLOUR ON THE EYELIDS IS USUALLY A SAFE BET.
2. Play it up with shimmer. SOMETIMES INTRODUCING A BRAND NEW SHADE INTO THE MIX IS EXCITING! AND BEAUTIFUL! A lil shimmer on inner corners really takes the eyes to the next level. Layer metallics over bold colours to make them seem even more sophisticated—plus, it's festive!
3. Keep the rest of your face neutral. You've heard this makeup rule before, but it's especially true when you're wearing color: Pick one feature (eyes, lips or cheeks) as the focus. Everything else should be pretty, simple and natural-looking. When wearing a multi-coloured print, pick up one (or more) of the colours.
The only day your lipstick, eyeshadow, eyelashes and hair accessory should match same colour as your dress is 31st of October...lol
Nigerian Actress a.k.a Sikira Sindodo...lol looks like a clown here
